After being banished from heaven, Susanoo came across an elderly couple in the province of Izumo. After losing seven of their eight daughters to the terrifying Orochi, they promised their final daughters hand in marriage if the God of storms could slay the deadly dragon to which he agreed. Using his legendary sword, the Ame-no-Murakumo-no-Tsurugi, he ended the life of Orochi, cutting it's heads and tails off.
